TC Front License Plate Angle Fix
The position of the front license plate holes in the front valance are angled downward causing the plate to be on a downward angle not 90 degrees. What's the key to getting the plate 90 degrees? Is there a beveled spacer that fits between the plate and valance? If there isn't a factory part available what material has anyone used to fabricate them? Thanks!
Re: TC Front License Plate Angle Fix
On my late 1939 TA the holes in the front valance are central on the curve and there are thick hard rubber spacers of about 3/4 inch diameter that provides the half round to match the valance curve and the flat surface for the number plate board.
I suspect your valance is incorrectly drilled. I would recommend trying to make adapters using some plastic rod. There seem to be several on Ebay and AliExpress if you google "Black plastic PVC round rod bar". File an offset curve to match your valance, drill a central hole for the screw and cut off about 0.5 inch (x2). The holes in the valance on my car are about 0.5 inch diameter to allow some adjustments. The mounting screws from memory are about 5/16 and there are 2 bent 1 inch washers on the inside under the 2 nuts.
Best wishes

Re: TC Front License Plate Angle Fix
Thanks for your response and input. I think the license plate mounting was changed from the TA to TC as my valance has the 2 holes (1/4") drilled with captive nuts welded to the back side. I have small 1/4" ID aluminum tubing that I'll use to make the spacers, unless someone with a TC responses with how the factory recommended the plate to be mounted or, maybe the holes were incorrectly drilled by the factory?

I had the same problem when I bought a new repro valance from a well-known M.G. firm in West London. So the number plate is angled down, maybe an advantage if I go through a police camera speed trap!

Re: TC Front License Plate Angle Fix
That's a good idea but I would rather look at the car with a straight mounted plate. So I'll figure out what I'll do then drive within the speed limit. Yea right! Ha!
