Skip Kelsey LED Tail Lights
Does anyone have a set of instructions for Skip Kelsey's D lamp LED inserts? Trying to diagnose a problem. The tail and brake lights work fine, but the two LEDs that (I think) are supposed to illuminate the license plate are not working.
The two LEDs are in the center of the attached picture. Note that I seem to be missing the R14 resistor. I am not sure if this is an issue, but from looking at the circuit board this open connection seems to be part of the license plate LED circuit.

I have them on my car but they didn't come with instructions. I can take a photo of mine and post it when I get the chance if no one posts one sooner. Lew Palmer took over Skip's lamps so he may also have an answer.

FYI, Lew Palmer was able to repair my circuit boards. The LEDs for the license plate illumination had burnt out. Lew addressed a few other issues for me as well. I am extremely grateful.

really good light

done it on my YA too
and my new old MGA will get it too this way

that is the reason i post not too much in the moment

As circuit boards like these age there will often be just one soldered connection point that corrodes and fails. Sort of along the lines of a weakest link. If you look at every solder point under some magnification on both sides of the board you may spot it. Repair is often pretty simple with a correctly sized iron (15 Watt?) and a pointed tip. Get the corroded solder just melted, and then add a tiny amount of new solder. Very thin rosin core solder is available that is maybe 1/32" dia.
Curiously, the resistor just above the two lights in question appears to have been soldered differently than the rest.

Duncan:
Lew did find some issues with some of the soldering as well. He also chalked it up to age.
