TC Overheat

Drove the TC for about an hour, No issues. Pulled into the garage, shut the key and it turned over again - very quickly. Then, steam from the front. Gauge read approx. 75c. Letting things cool down at the moment, but wondering if it's safe to back it out to get underneath, and then put her away again. What i should be looking for and where? Pump, radiator, hoses, etc. I am not a mechanic and am loathe to just have the local shop diagnose - or over diagnose what's going on. There's coolant on the fins and of course, drops all over the engine bay,

Take note of the current coolant level. That is where you want to keep it. When overfilled it will behave as you describe on shutdown. Nothing wrong. 75C operating temp is good, and probably right where the thermostat was keeping it.

Hi Duncan. It's odd that nothing was a warning sign ahead of this, and the timing was odd as well. Park/Cut Power/restart/steam. I haven't crawled underneath, but it seems that coolant loss was minimal from what I see up above. One 3-inch puddle on the floor. The coolant level is lower once i removed the cap.

It's as if the whole coolant system had a mild bit of flatulence. Hoping to roll it back out tomorrow and get under it. Any advice on what to look for is appreciated.

Luke, what you say sounds like "running on" which happens when carbon build-up on the piston tops is hot enough to ignite the fuel. Which would happen if it was running hot, despite what the gauge says...could be any number of things, but check the timing and that the mixture is not too weak.
