TC Cycle Fender Bushings and Bolts

I obtained a set of aluminum cycle fender brackets from a collector in AU. They're pretty neat with a nice airfoil shape.

They are frame mount and install where the original bracket was located. First off, does anyone recognize them, as to year/model? I was told they were off a TA, but I'm not so sure.

I did finally get a pair of fenders but the brackets are not perfect by any means. One of the rear brackets is shorter than the other and I think it's a 2nd Gen. casting as it's almost exactly 20% short, normal shrinkage for castings.

My plan is to make sure at least one side will fit and work, then have the "good side" scanned. From that a pattern will be 3-D printed, then reversed for left and right, giving the 4 patterns, for left/right, front/rear, then castings made.

I was contemplating have more than one set cast and selling a few to recover some of the cost. But I'm not sure if there is interest.

Anyway, what I really need at this point is information on the rubber bushing and bolts that attach the fender to the bracket. Most photos I see they all look the same so I figure it's some sort of stock item for some model.

Any ideas?

3D scanning technology and 3D printing is a fantastic thing
maybe I would be interested in it in a few years.
3D printing is a technology that is developing fast
maybe in a few years it will be possible to print at a reasonable price without casting
it would be good if the 3D file was stored in a good place and was available
no border for this technik

Maybe try Steve Baker and some of the other guys who build specials. They should have all the parts for this conversion available.

I received a suggestion to reach out to Richard Hardy at "Vintage MG Parts" in the UK. They specialize in J-Type. http://www.vintagemgparts.com

I didn't see them on their site so I made an inquiry. In the meantime if anyone knows of a stateside source.

I've not gotten much MG work done in for the last month or so. Helping a good friend, [or more like "doing"] the recommissioning and painting a '61 CJ-5 he bought. It's running good, now doing some paint work. It got a little more involved than I first anticipated, go figure... But it's good practice.

I got a lead on a guy in Virginia that does scanning, modeling and casting. Not sure if I would get possession of the file or not. It's going to be a little tricky as I'll probably end up with only one good side, but once scanned I can't see why it couldn't be reversed to make the pattern for the other side.

Wonder if there's a market? Was thinking of having a few sets cast and selling them to help defray the cost which is probably going to be noteworthy...

The brackets look very nice , I have usually made my own from steel tube when building my Alvis and other specials in the past, I would be happy to sign up for a set of castings , freight and import duties to UK should be OK

Luigi on MG Experience sent me a link for Pre-War.com. They have the bolts I was looking for alone with the rubber bushes.

Did you buy them recently, like in the last few months? I bought mine from Grant on "British Classic" Buy, Swap, Sell. He had a set like what you have and I was the second person to reply, missing out on them.

The type you have are actually what I was looking for as they mount to the original TC frame mounts. He listed a second set, [the ones I bought] but was kind enough to give me a warning so I could be the first to reply.

Just wondering if you got the first set.

The frame mount isn't as convenient as the stock frame bracket has to be removed but I think it will work out.

Just curious, do you have a spacer between the fender stay and the headlamp bracket? My set doesn't look as thick there.

Or is that also a spacer? It looks like your fenders are a little flatter in profile, [and wider] Are you running 15" rims?

***Note; on closer examination, I don't think they are/were the same brckets I was hoping to buy. Looks like they were specifically designed for a flatter profile fender.

And a big thank you for the photos, they are a great help to me.

Brackets and fenders were sourced in AU by the previous owner about 15 years ago through Bob Alley in AZ. Apparently Bob used to fly back and forth to AU (he was a pilot) and bring parts back for US buyers.

A small rubber spacer for the headlights and yes on 15 inch wheels.
