Chassis rails

My TC chassis is up on axle stands and I am about to install the radiator and cut the lower Y-tube to size so the radiator sits perpendicular. Am I right in assuming that the TC chassis rails in the tub area sit parallel to the ground? Thank you.

As far as I am aware, they are.

In the Blower manual the ground clearance is given as 6 inches.
That usually means measured at the center of the chassis, not at the axles.
So I think it is a fair assumption that the chassis is parallel to the ground except where it sweeps up towards the front.

Hi Mark I am not sure I would set my radiator up to suit a radiator pipe ,I am just getting to the fiddly bits
Of a rebuild on my 1939 TA , I had a lot of hassle trying to get my bonnet/hood to fit both my bulkhead and my radiator.
I had to pack my radiator up on one side about 1/16 inch and adjust front to back with the stays to get everything to line up.l would personally do this and cut the pipe to suit
I am just about to start making and fitting the steel panels on my 1937 .i am not a metal worker but learning fast ,

The book TCs Forever has a line drawing side view of a TA and it is drawn with the chassis rail parallel to the ground.
I had to look up Y-tube because mine does not have one. I guess you mean the branch pipe Moss 434-210. I agree that can wait until most of the car is assembled.

I'm at the point where I'm forming the panels that are under and in front of the doors out of flat sheets from Frame Up.

For TC 6984 the side metal panels you indicate were pitted where the felt runs along the inside of the panel. The I took the sheet side panels to my British metal guy he had a look at them and said it would be much better to supply me with new panels so he made plywood templates of the shape and hammered the new metal of them. The job was excellent. I have the old panels and the plywood templates if that's of any use. For example I could accurately trace the plywood templates and send you the drawings.

Thanks for the good advice everyone. I shall postpone any pipe cutting.
