I need another project
Hi there. . . . .I have had MGs since 1957. . . . seems like yesterday ! . in fact i was just reminded by a Norwegian friend that he was pushing my TA to get it started in Glasgow,Scotland and the first Sputnik went by overhead !! so that's a date to remember !
After that MANY stories. . . .I was one of that wonderful fun group. .the' T Racers' in England for many years. and ran the MGCC registers in Scotland till we moved to be nearer our pals- -and Silverstone !
A PB Airline Coupé which had been mine won the Pebble Beach Concours - prepared by my old friend Jack Berry- sadly , no longer with us..
I created a T type racing team to compete in France and called it 'Team Rosbif'- - -you may have heard of us ?
I then built and raced a 1936 Delahaye GP car. . . .I use a TD on the road here- Cognac, but feel I would like to find a suitable T Type. . preferably a TB, but TA or TC would do.
I need to find someone who is prepared to sell me something that I can make into a fine light competition car in the true MG style. .. . .I have begun to detest this craze to rip our T types to bits to make up the so-called 'QT' specials.
So. . .anyone out there with a suitable base for me. . .please get in touch. . .I already have XPAG engine and gearbox here.
My son is in LA and we will be out there in March, if anyone in CA is interested .
Cheers. . . a bientot. . . . .Erik Benson

Keep me informed - I live 20 miles east of the LA Civic Cengter - and there at two old mg clubs in the area - the TC Motoring Guild and the Vintage MG Club of Souther California - maybe you can make one of their meeting.

Typical of the LA area - it's sometimes a long drive from where you are to where you want to be; 40 miles from Topanga to TC Motoring Guild meeting place in Montrose, and 60 mile drive from Topanga to the Vintage MG Club meeting place in Santa Ana.
And 50 miles from Topanga to where I live in West Covina :-/

Erik,
Come Spring I'll be going to recover the bits of TC6165 which I have in storage in the midwest. Not much body/trim stuff; No tub, a lousy dash, no instruments. Especially if you're not interested in the engine and gearbox, I'd consider selling off the rest of the bits, includes an extra frame, suspension stuff, steering gear, rad and shell, etc..... Can't give you a full inventory by memory, the stuff's been in storage for quite some time. I've considered building a trials special with it but don't see getting to it anytime soon... keep in touch if you haven't found something by then and might be interested.
