Dash and Gauges
I'm reinventing my dash . I've most of the gauges out. Does the line from the oil banjo @ engine disconnect from the back of the gauge ?? Or ?? Thanks, TC

You sure that's oil? Looks like temperature. Temp gauge does not have a removable line but oil does. You can remove the oil pressure line at either end. Note there is a leather washer at the gauge end.

Then absolutely, if there is no disconnect coupling nut at the gauge, then disconnecting the coupling at the engine is right and proper. I've never seen an oil gauge with a captive oil line but I suppose they were made. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that. Certainly, Craig Seabrook at the Whitworth Shop would know for sure with all the dash refurb's he done over the years.

If my eyes are to be believed, that gauge is one for oil temperature. If you are interpreting it as oil pressure then you may be a little alarmed.

There's always one guy out there who reads and notes the obvious! Like we can't see the trees for the forest syndrome!!! Definitely not a Standard TC gauge, you read oil and don't notice the ℃ symbol. DUH! No wonder it has the coupling nut only at the engine. Sorry tcremesal, It had to wait for Richard to come along and straighten us out.

Yes Marv, I don't claim X-ray vision. However, while we are now all looking at the face, is the needle resting on the wrong side of the stop?

That is optional Oil Temp. Gauge which is usually connected to a modified sump plug.
The needle does certainly seem to be on the wrong side of stop!!

Maybe the oil tempo is 130C. Could be a trick of the light. If the pin is bent 90-degrees like some are, it could be that the needle missed the pin altogether and went right past.

Here is one off Ebay. Still not entirely clear re the stop but this one seems to be resting a little further clockwise.

Indeed the needle is on the wrong side of the pin . I will fix that when I remove the gauge. I've another combination gauge for H20 temp and oil pressure. This is where the oil temp gauge is connected to the oil system.
