Hallo
so in the moment i have no place to rebuild the steering, in the garage it is too cold and no light, so i buy some tools in the bay and build a new tool box for the car.

The last days i make some wood work, welding and painting.
here are some pictures.

today i will print the template for the upper milled with the 3d printer.

i hope all will work as i think so i can make the last work on weekend

Hallo again
so my 3d printer don t want, so i have to order some parts for him :-(

so i do it in the old way
thin wood and a pencil i draw the outside of the tools to my painted mahagoni wood

than i took the upper mill with a special tool, but it doesn t work as i want, so i tale a normal tool i tested before
with a round top

than i took the template i have done with a scroll saw and copy the template to the PU foam

here a picture with the tools i bought from the bay
and one other part i need
the shutter for the new tool box cover,
i got it stainless steel, the other parts are from brass, so i try the first time,
goldflash from bretzmann
and
i can t believe it, it is golden now, the brass parts i do the same

the weekend i will make the other toolbox

it s not to bad i think ;-)
one more painting is nessasary

so the next job for the cold winter evenigs.
one previous owner has changed all old electric parts,
relay and new fuses, all perfect working, but the new
lucas rb 340 regulator and the relay left side of it looks not original, so i think to change it,
buy new cover like this here

take the new part and hide it under the old one ;-)
the basic part i will make with freecad and print 3d in petg
so it looks like the old one

where to buy or how to make the clamps for the air pump , the grease pump and the other stuff under the toolbox,
i have all parts ;-)

so next part ready,
two parts missing the jack handle i have to make in the next week, i try to take some wonderful wood from my garden ;-)
and the tommy bar, the shipping is always so expensive :-(

now i have to clean my garage, a lot of dirt from the mill, than the last paint of the wood

its not to bad i think, most time was to find the parts in the bay, and wait for shipping

THX to Tim Parrott, he sent me the tire valve tool , its between the pliers in a little hole, so i can t loose it

so today a little progress

I fastened the lid of the toolbox in the car, some little problems because not all hole where there where it should be ...
than i also put the two toolboxes with the tools to the car, all fit so far.

One of the owners before make a new electric, all works perfect, but it looks new with the lucas 340 regulator, i don t like it
so i put the new regulator in a new box, like the original one CJR3

I make the design with freecad so i can change all dimension
so i learn to use freecad and have a new part for my car.

in the box i will place one or two relays with fuse in it

i will print it on the weekend and see if it will work as i thought

here some picture, perhaps someone can use it one day too
now i need some more luck for printing :bow: :bow: :bow:

one more picture, i don t know before to make such good pictures with freecad, seems to be printed yet

so i learn english, learn freecad and a lot of other things :lol:

Hallo
so i print the basis, first time with abs
but little problems with the layers, people who know 3d printing knows the problem ;-)

but i can fit the regulator in it
i have to cut a little bit from the base plate of the regulator, that i know before .
but abotu 5 mm are missing, so i have to change the desing a little bit, the regulator cover will be 5 mm more than the original, the fuse box 5 mm less

but for the first test its good, I expected problems

in the moment i print the cover to the if the layper problem is fixed

Hi
i had a lot of oproblems with the abs i used for the first prints, warpinng + layer, so i buy new one titanx
no warping !, and it works, so i have to wait for the second print, fuse is ready, regulator i get in 2 hours.

Yesterday i used my new lathe i bought 2 weeks ago,
i took some wood from our garden
and this is what i have done
wonderful to hold it in the hand

now only 2 parts are missing
the other parts of the jack handle for my shelley jack, i will weld it
and the tommy bar , work for my lathe

I will now grind and then paint, black matte

some little work on the design of the base to fix the covers on the base

it the first time i have design such parts, first time to print abs
so i am really happy,
some weeks and it will work

it looks nice i think

next step will be to fix it in the car, but this will take 2 or 3 weeks
a lot of other work in the garden

THX, was a lot of work, because it was the first time with 3d design i have done my own design.
I want to drive the car, so the electic parts have to work perfect. in the 80s the car came to germany and was rebouild i think, but a lot of parts was changed to modern parts.
Today we want a car in the old style, nearly original, so i take the new part and put it to the old style.

my toolbox is now nearly original too.

the casing of the new replica speedo is old style too, i have designed it 3 month ago, all with frecad parametric so i can change the dimension realy easy

2 days reading, drawing and thinking
A few hours in the garage, where I have the new stainless steel tank grown, solved some problems with a dripping gasoline line and run the car short, but it was raining, so no tour.

i have seen that i can t take the panel easy off ;-(

The car has got a lucas rb340 regulator, some fuses and relays in the 80s,
a special coil and ignition switch, the old one was deleted
The wiring circuit drawing isn t right at several positions and color
Behind the dashbord mess :-(

So I want a new wiring behind the dashboard.

Install the lucas regulator into the printed crj3 housing

the correct wiring colors where possible

Put the old ignition switch back into operation, orderd key arrived on saturday and key turn around, thx Tim P.

install a new old but working fog switch for the dashboard, the old one is broken

switch the warning switch to a lighted switch and choose another better position, I had seen a picture with a better position, in the middle under the dash

Install a new, modern 12 fuse element and about 6 relays behind the dashboard to increase safety significantly

drawing a new wiring paper for the next 80 years ;-)

but it took much more time than i thougt before,
i will do it in the next winter, so a lot of time to buy parts, wires ...

in the moment the car runs , all lights work, so time enough

the wiring is not perfect in the moment, done with TinyCad

I also started my new wiring harness, Mine was done with 7 core trailer cable.

Would be interested to see what you are running through fuses, I was also considering a fuse box and almost use it as a busbar to get power to the different components.

I am going to wire it so the brake lights are also used as indicators. :)

Where did you get the SS fuel tank, for now my solution is a plastic outboard boat engine fuel tank sitting on the "back seat" :lol:

Stainless Steel tanks are available HERE. If my tank ever went bad, I would definitely consider stainless. I have one in my MGB GT that is about 30 years old and still looks new inside and out. The one concern for me on a TC would be that stainless is more brittle than mild steel and these tanks do have a tendency to crack from stress and vibration at the lower brackets. Hopefully the stainless tanks have addressed this with added strength in that area.

the fuses are S1 -S8 in the circuit, i have taken a look to a Käfer 1966 wiring
the SS tank is from Gilbert in England, perfect work

the circuit is not ready in the moment , the placement of the parts are not good

in modern cars, Klemme 30 is always Power directly from battery, the warning flasher needs it with fuse always
some other wirings too.

Klemme15 power only if igintion is on

some colors i don t get wrapped in textile, but i wil find a solution,
the wires from the front and the back is perfect, i will make it new from the fuse to the dash, so a lot of work less

today i changed the exhaust.
I get one from P Edney UK stainless steel
absolutley perfect
before the sound was from a little Baby car, now only a little bit louder, but deep
much more like an old sports car

the exhaust is from Bell, there was a paper on it.
i will make a sound file beofre and after changing, have to lool how i do it
now we have to change the rubber pipe of the brake, i have it also, next weekend perhaps.
