It might seem a dumb question to the experts but since I am looking into fitting a Pertronix "Flamethrower electronic ignition" to my Austin Mini will the same unit (different polarity) also fit into my TC ?
If not, what type of electronic distributor is most suitable for my TC ? and where is the best source ?

Re: Electronic distributors
I believe that all the flamethrower distributors I've seen (at least the two I've installed on other British cars) have a vacuum actuated advance, which the TC, in stock form, doesn't. My Mini Cooper S MK1, with a 23D4 distributor, doesn't have the vacuum advance, so it's possible the one you are fitting to your Mini might not as well... Independent of that, the advance curve is likely different between the two. Pertronix does make an Ignitor electronic trigger to replace the points in a stock DKY4A on a TC and Moss Motors carries a 45D-based replacement distributor curved for the T-Series, though I have no actual experience with it.

Re: Electronic distributors
Now Malcolm, why would you want to try and undo the good work of Sir Joseph Lucas? I've been driving my trusty TC, over 30,000 miles so far, and no troubles with the trusty DKY4A at all. Starts reliably, has taken me on many long trips, and requires minimal maintenance. Most importantly, if trouble does arise, it can be diagnosed and fixed at the side of the road with ease.
It appears to put out enough spark voltage to fire the plugs at 5400 rpm, so what more could you ask?
I do carry a spare contact plate, rotor, and cap. So far, have not had to use them in an emergency.
