Machine Shops
I was in need of some machine shop work recently and headed for the yellow pages to check some out since no one around knew of a reference. There are plenty listed but when I called the numbers most were out of business. Do others experience this? Jim Davis TC 7225

Jim,
Best way to find 'em is Google your area...yellow pages are rapidly becoming a relic of the past.
Here in south Mississippi there seem to be plenty of them but few that want to work on our cars...I'm lucky I have a good guy in town that has been working on MGs for years now.

Re: Machine Shops
A while back I moved from a neighborhood teaming with machine shops to a town about 20 miles away without a single shop in the entire valley. Seems good machine shops willing to do small jobs at a reasonable cost are on their way to extinction. The younger generations mostly want to sit behind computer monitors and make more money.

(I am pretty fortunate having my own well equipped workshop with lathe , miller, shaper etc,and the necessary tools to go with them, 50 years of collecting tools and still in the market for anything of use.

Damn...why is Australia so far away when you need a good machinist?
