Whilst waiting for my block and head to come back from the engine shop I've made and installed a new fuel line (in Cunifer) and installed most of the wiring loom (although nothing to connect it to yet). I've also restored the steering wheel. I was going to paint it after I had stripped and cleaned it, but I ended up getting it powder coated for less than the cost of a tin of specialist paint. A new centre plate finished it off. Given the price of reproductions, I'm pleased with the result. I've also made two new seat bases as the old ones were rotten. By the way, the final picture distorts the image, the new base is not twisted!
Does anyone know the size/thread of the three screws that hold the centre plate on the steering wheel and where (in the UK) I might get some

I'm guessing but suspect they'll be BA. I can bring a variety (BA, Whitworth, BSF) over for you to try in a week or so. (just waiting for the sealant to put a new core plug in)

Nice work! I also seem to remember that they are BA, although after so much time someone could have forced a different thread into it.

Hi Norman, you would be welcome to come around. I should be rebuilding the engine by then so your advice would be appreciated. Actually, I hopefully will be picking up my block, head and crank from the engineer in Barnsley some time next week, so I could call in and see you as I'll be just about passing right by. Not sure which day yet though.

Steve, Sound good, bring the wheel and we'll try and find some screws for it. We can also arrange a few days for me to pop down and help rebuild your engine. I've had the virus so I should be immune and not be a carryer. But we can wear masks if you want.
