Just to be sure, each spindle gets 2 different "spacers." There is the bearing spacer, which has been discussed here, but there is also the steel "seal spacer." See moss catalog #8 here: https://mossmotors.com/mg-tc-td-tf/susp ... suspension

You can see this seal spacer behind the stuck inner bearing race in Steve's picture above.

Yup, I'm aware of the spacer that goes onto the axle first then the bearing then the larger spacer then shims as needed then the outer bearing then the large dished holed washer and finish it off with the castellated nut and cotter pin. I still don't know what I'm going to do with the bearings. Luckily I don't need to decide yet so I'm moving onto something else for now. Thanks!

Don't forget the oil seal that goes between the rear spacer and the inner bearing. Generally, once the bearing spacer is sized correctly the bearings are greased and loaded (pressed) into the hub, with the bearing spacer in between. Then the back oil seal is installed at the back of the hub. The steel seal spacer is put in place, and the loaded hub is then installed onto the spindle, which usually takes some persuasion with light taps from a wooden or rubber mallet. Once the hub is on far enough to install the outer washer and nut, tightening the nut ensures the hub is pushed all the way home. First, the spindle (if not new) should be inspected for any metal transfer from the old bearings, and if any exists it should be removed with careful use of crocus or fine sandpaper. TO answer your earlier question, the mallet tapping is required because it should be a tight fit.

I'm rebuilding the front suspension and have benefited greatly from the TABC site, Thank you all!

I'm using tapered bearings inner/outer and noticed reference to using shim sets. Since shims are not listed for the TC with my normal suppliers. Does anyone know if MGC shim sets will fit the spindle or if US NAPA might have a set that will fit the TC? And if so a NAPA #.

Your help is sincerely appreciated!

The MGB/MGC shims don't fit. The ID is too small. You can open them up with a dremel and then they fit. Or try ordering some shims from Fastenall, McMaster-Carr, etc. Roger Furneaux in the UK and From The Frame Up in the USA both sell shims also. The ID of the shims is 20mm. Also note that the bearing spacer needs to be longer for the tapered bearings, which can be achieved with a thick shim, or with a longer spacer. Long spacers are available from Roger, and probably also from FTFU.
