Hello
the TA is back in his garden garage
almost all done, just need to grease all joints
next step is the carburettor
my master will overhaul the linkage for the throttle valve
so I have removed everything and roughly cleaned the housing.
Now I'm going to clean all the parts, polish the brass rods and fit new seals everywhere.
i have to wait a bit until i can put the carburettors back in the car
i hope i can adjust all after it

did nothing for the last 3 weeks
made some wood for the fire next winter ;-)
felled three trees
the last days in February were so nice
but I couldn't drive the TA because no insurance
from the first 01.03 I could drive, but cold and rainy
next weekend I will have some time for the last works
everything is already assembled but the carburettor still needs to be fine tuned also all nuts need to be checked.

you will get some new pictures next days
all parts cleaned and polished ;-)

Hi
had a lot of work in my job
found one more what was wrong with the car
thanks to Carl

my carburettors had no springs when i got the car
but they have to have springs, because the engine is a TD engine

now I know why the car had problems in the past
now I can play with the power and the engine does it at once

rain today so last adjusting next days
but happy with the result in the moment

all parts cleaned and polished

the last things before i can go to a long ride is to adjust the steering
control all nuts

Hello
in the afternoon i found 2 hours to adjust the steering
first step is to stretch a rope on both sides at a distance of 50 cm from the frame
so you have a parallel line on both sides of the frame
then put one wheel parallel to the frame
the distance from the rope should be identical at the front and back of the front wheel.
Simply place the folding rule on the edge of the rim and measure.

then measure on the other side

The wheels should point inwards in the direction of travel.
Since I measure from the outside, it's the other way round for me,
The front should be 4.7 mm wider than the back.

When everything is ready, set the safety pins and do not forget any of them

nice to read something from Austria again ;-)
rainy and cold weather at the moment and some other work.

have a flat to renovate, electrics, heating, ceilings, bathroom windows.
I'm planning a dry screed underfloor heating so I can install a heat pump later.
My monobloc heat pump, which I installed in October, is running perfectly, I'm just thrilled.
I also have to organise the 37th Highland Games in Lünen, classic car weekend for MG Triumph and Morgan.

Hello
perfect weather today and finished work early enough to drive the car in the sun
cold but sunny
after 200 m i heard a noise from behind
stopped immediately
opened the flap behind the seat
and saw that both dampers are loose
i had taken them away when i painted the frame, forgotten the screws
always a problem when you have to stop work and do something else
i hate this
fixed this problem and checked all other screws but no other problem
so again a little test ride
the car runs straight on the line , only a little play, nothing to the play before
so the steering is perfect for me
the brakes with the silicon fluid is not hard enough, some air in it
but when i brake all 4 wheels does the same, a little problem

th e car start perfect cold and warm, idle at 1000
but 1000 - 2000 rpm not perfect, so some more adjusting
i will do it next days step by step
i hope we have some sunny days
march was horrible and rainy, good for the trees and the garden, bad for our cars

perfect weather again,
cleaned and polished the car in the sun
was fun after the long winter
then 5km around the town,
better than yesterday,
drove it a bit faster, I think the car liked it
stopped at home, looked under the bonnet and drove another round
the feeling with the new steering is always better, i drove the car faster and faster around the corner

so it was some good work in the winter 8)

a special weekend
37. highland games
organiser :me
friday morning i wanted to spend the last euros on presents
at 3pm the first riders should arrive at the hotel
the ground was still wet but luckily the rain finally stopped
so off with bike and backpack
500 m from home i ride over a small car park a car is going the wrong way i brake and crash into my hand
no scratch no hole in pants or jacket
wrist a little crooked though
I do the shopping on the bike and then go home.
course informed the orga team and drove to the hospital
x-ray radius head now 3 parts
at 14 30 then surgery and a t-plate
operator had also studied mechanical engineering for 1 semester
so he can do that
16 o'clock awake again everything repaired
I had to stay until 6 pm
but then on time for dinner
but then I saved myself the nightly games
on saturday then punctual start at 9 o'clock
I could not be absent
super stretch
I already knew them
but now I had to take a seat in the mondeo as a co-driver
a few pictures from over 400 and some drone shots from the lunch break
in the morning my wife drove the ta to the starting place of the slalom in selm

at the end on sonday morning a slalom on a closed area, a mgb could not be topped
but the absolute highlight came, unfortunately I can't write it here, I don't want to get
don't want anyone to get in trouble, but all my 80 guests were flashed by it.

i will start at the eifelrundfahrt1922

i had some aeroscreens in my garage but not finished install
with my broken radius it was a challenge to make the finish

it is a 10x30mm steel tube 4 holes in it to take 4 little tubes and welded from the bottom
i put the legs from the aeroscreen in this little tubes and drilled a 2mm hole in it to fix it with some secure it with a spring
so i can take off one aeroscreen when i drive alone

all parts i can store behind the seats, and intall it in a few minutes
no holes in the dashboard or in the body

perhaps i find a good solution to take off the hole screen, but in the moment there are the screws from inside to outside secured with a nut, this has to be changed
someone done it ?

small update
my carburettor is not set up perfectly at the moment,
with my broken radius I wasn't allowed to drive the car,
now I can test it for a week, happy
from round to round it gets better
changed three pairs of needles
the old ones are the best
got the carburettors with new throttle discs and new jets this winter
thanks carl
the last days i had a classic car event, i drove the car about 100 km
at the end my starter was damaged and we started the engine with a screwdriver on the starter switch.
this will not be possible with a new car
at the end of the event the cars are standing on a big square
my car was the oldest
about 10 kids were looking at the car and taking a lot of pictures
They have never seen such an old car.
a few weeks ago i got a red car cover at techno classica and i could get the last MG sticker, looks good on the car for the night

today i readjusted the toe-in again
at speeds over 60 i still had no good feeling with the steering
so I did the whole thing again today
I adjusted the right wheel parallel to the frame and then adjusted the other side until I had a little more than the recommended 3/16" (4.76 mm).
then I drove the car and it was much better now
it can stay like this
Since I still had some time left, I looked again for the non-functioning fuel sending unit on my ya .
It turned out that I had mixed up the cables on the gauge behind the dashboard, i turned them
now the fuel gauge works,
now we are well prepared with both cars for the rally next week.

With such an old car
there is always something to do
I had problems with the switch for the pullstarter
Ordered a new one
But I have to wait until next week
But
We have a classic car rally this weekend
So I opened the switch as you can see in the pictures.
I took my drill with a grinding wheel and cleanes the surface
The best thing ,
you can change the side of the copper part
so i turned it
No I don't need the new one
such a problem with a new car you have to buy a new part for 100 or 200 Euros
here you can restore the 45 year old part
took me about 1 hour to do it
haven t tested it in the moment, will do it this afternoon after work

all working now as it should work ;-)

I hope we get there without rain
Dark cloud in the moment

Two hours later in Nideggen

One hour rain on the highway the second half without rain
The cars are dry now and in a garage
and a beer for us

i was so tired yesterday that i didn't have time to write anything
it was a fantastic weekend
up and down hills 10% and more
all cars reached the finish line
I rode about 20 km behind the motorbike with sidecar
the rider was not the youngest anymore
he had a lot of work on his bike
I have to do that sometime

after I had installed the rebuilt carburettors
the car no longer ran perfectly
I thought that it must be the adjustment.
but everything I tried did not work.
Last weekend we were in Nideggen at the Eifelrundfahrt 1922
there the engine had a lot to do up and down the hills
at home the car was in the garage for a week and was not touched once
yesterday I wanted to drive a bit
the car had problems to start
then the engine ran rough
I drove the car for 800 m and the engine died.
I called my friend to tow the car home.
we looked here and there, and also tried another spark plug
the spark seemed quite weak.
Then we stopped because it was already late.
Today we changed the ignition coil, a Q12 replica from England (China).
against a blue Bosch
now the car starts great, runs completely different to the last weeks, no problems with rev changes etc.
The old Q12 was oily, indicating that it was probably defective.

Carl gave me the advice, thanks again
will drive the car next days afterr work in the evening

if a new car has something like this it will certainly be very very expensive until the fault is found.
here you ca do all by yourselfe

i love this old cars
