There was a chap on this list/forum, based in California I think who was making an alternator which looked like an original TC Generator. Would like to touch base with him please.....

Re: TC Generator alternative
The only ones I've seen are the C40 type. I don't think any of them use an original housing though. If there is someone who does these with original housings, I would be interested to learn more.
Examples: Stealth, Dynalite, and Racemettle.

Murray, There was a Sydney TC at the recent Melbourne concours. That car had an alternator on it and the owner had modified it to take the tacho drive. It was very obviously an alternator but cleverly done. I am sorry but I do not remember the owner's name.

Max, I believe Jerry Felper in California was (is?) offering alternators with the tach drive mod, just as you describe.

Re: TC Generator alternative
Here in Vancouver, we have a TC owner who has fitted an alternator, modified to take the tach drive to his TC. He found an alternator that had the correct shaft to take the stock TC pulley. However, it does not look like the TC dynamo at all, it just generates lots of electricity without trouble! I'm sure Sir Joseph would NOT have approved!
