Unusual holes ?

I've owned TC 7635 ( aka Ruby ) for around 12 months now and continue to smile broadly whenever I drive her.

However the time has come to attend to various niggles including correctly setting up the carburation etc.

In the process of removing the the air filter and induction tubing to gain a better view of and access to the linkages etc I was somewhat surprised to see four holes in the underside of the r/h tube ...shown in the attached photo .

Is this standard ...some form of excess fuel drain ?

They all have holes. It is reported that they are to solve a mixture issue. Not the best solution in my opinion but they did whatever was necessary to keep the line flowing. No time to re-design the air cleaner assembly!

Holes are factory issue, believe it or not! All normal for the TC?

Thanks for clarifying things ...odd though it is ! The P.O had very carefully sealed every join with Hylomar ...all to no effect with those four clumsy holes present further along the induction path.

Steve ...it was good to see you on UK television last week extolling the virtues of TCs during a restoration programme on our Channel 4 .

I have converted to a Porsche 912 disposable paper air filter that fits inside the original canister and have sealed the holes with no ill affect. I see no reason to have another entry point for dust and dirt to enter my freshly rebuilt engine.
