machining the TC oil pump

Post by Norman Golm » Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:54 am

I need to surface of the oil pump housing, cover and gears. I have had the parts to three shops and they don't seem to know how to hold the parts on a surface grinder. The surfaces are too rough to use the glass and sandpaper method. Is there another way of surfacing these parts? Or is there someone I can send the parts to?

Have you tried a machine shop with a milling machine. It will get the surface perfectly flat and then you could do the glass and emery trick.

Send them to Butch Taras. He rebuilds pumps and does it properly. Uses a surface grinder and gets everything to proper clearance.
