Assistance with 8 inch lights

Post by ian theobald » Thu Aug 21, 2014 3:33 am

Have found an adress in UK that has 8 inch lights mainly for motor cycles
[ 62 Clare Rd ,Prestwood Bucks .HP16 0NU ] No idea if near London or out in the sticks as we say
Are ther any members close by that could see if these lights will fit into an original 8 inch shell.
My car is fitted with 7 inch lights with adapter rim and would like to revert to original or something authentic.
Posted is a picture of what is available and think are about 35 pounds.Light comes with pilot light inside.
I have found another place with new chrome plated brass rims to suit the M140 shells tha mainly sells repro hub caps.
Have found some one local here in Oz that has a pair of 8 inch lights in steel shells but not sure if compatible as cannot see sprung loaded clip at bottom so am waiting a reply.
These 8 inch lights although not original may be an alternative but may only suit UK and Australian roads in regards to dipping.
If any UK members live close to adress and have a spare rim to check would reall help as would like to order as think resemble the originals . My car is a very late 49 model. Thanks Ian

Thanks Dirk .They were the site that had the chrome rims.
The problem is I do not have the rims or lens /mirrors for an 8 inch light.
These replica 8 inch lights may be the solution as are complete ready to use at a good price but would need to know if will fit into an original 8 inch rim .Would be expensive mistake to order lights and then new rims and find not compatible
I can live with the fact that does not have Lucas on the front as long as look period for style of light and sits neatly in an original shell. Lights are made to suit early British motor cycles
If some one is close to the shop mentioned then perhaps could check as may be of use to other owners but the dipping on low beam may be an issue for US owners. Ian
