Having got carried away with a partial restoration of my TC - an easy thing to do ! - I have decided to fully renovate the dashboard. Over the years my car has had additions and deletions (some good, some bad) by previous owners to the point that I am trying now to return it to original as possible for a 1947 MGTC but finding it a bit confusing as to what is original and what isn't.
Consequently can I please ask:
The centre dash panel is currently covered in leatherette (not the full dash- it's a 1947 vehicle). Photos show that it should be black but is it simply painted or does it need recovering in leatherette ?
Any feedback would be very welcome.
Thank you.

Re: TC Centre Dash Panel
Ian, The centre metal part of the dash is painted either black or bronze. (I seem to think it should be black as bronze was later).
Early dashboards were polished walnut and later they were Rexine covered. The colour of the Rexine matched the seats (and grille)
I will be rebuilding mine in September and will post pictures. The gauges are on the way back, The centre dash is coming over this weekend (with my daughter) and I have a tin of bronze paint on order for the two oval panels for the dash lamps.
There are a few pictures on my web site but not many.
