TC Height Dimensions?

Post by loustaller » Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:00 pm

Is there a source for the correct height for a TC? I’m not looking for the overall height instead I’m looking for something that would have the correct height of the wings to the ground.
I’m mocking up my car and it looks like the back end is sagging, lower then the front. Looking at a ton of images on Google it looks like there are other cars that look like the rear is sagging. Is this the way the cars were when manufactured? Or do all those cars, including mine have worn rear springs?
I thought I saw a drawing with dimensions but can’t locate it, now that I need it. Thanks, Lou

You might be thinking about the drawing at the following link:

A lot of TC's sag a bit in the rear from worn springs. I actually prefer the look, and it seems like being a bit softer in the rear helps handling. I've also seen a lot of TCs that sit too high from new springs being too stiff.

One thing you can check is the level of the frame. I've been told that in stock original condition, the main frame rails are level with the ground.

Yup, that’s the drawing I was looking for. I’ll have to see if what I’m looking for is included. I’ll also measure the frame to floor.
I like a car that sits level but I like them low, not stupid low just enough to make it look good and like it’s supposed look.
I know from experience not to make any radical changes until the car is completely together with all its pieces assembled.
Thanks for the link!

I did a rough measurement of the top of the front wing to the garage floor and the top of the rear wing to the garage floor and found very little difference. I think I need to roll the car out of the garage and take a look at it from a few feet back, something I can’t do in my garage. I might find the car is sitting to my liking.
