Door Latch Reinforcing Plate

Working on the timber for the first door, [LH]
The timbers are from Craig Seabrook and fit fairly well but need fiddling, [of course]. Although I have quite a collection of wood tools other than a compass plane and a block plane, I've mostly been using a DA sander with 40 grit. Although slower seems to reduce the possibility of removing too much material.

Anyway, thinking a little ahead, I was wondering if there was any reason why the latch backing plate couldn't be a full plate with 4 tapped holes instead of three?

I looked at the timber and the plate closer. I think, considering how the latch timber is relieved for the plate, and considering the thickness of the timber in that area I'm going to skip the larger plate.
The angle plate appears sufficient. I've got bigger fish to fry.
