TC Windscreen
We have TC 3878 in process and we are into the final fit up. We need confirmation on the location of the windscreen mounting holes. I have some measurements (mm format) but they seem wrong when I lay them out on the car. Almost all of the sheet metal was replaced or heavily reworked so I do not have a piece that I can reliably use to get this data. I have a TD also in process but that is no help.

Re: TC Windscreen
Hi Jim, welcome to the group! I queried some TC owners about this issue a few years ago. Here are the replies I received...
1. Distance from the front windshield mounting screw to the front edge of the scuttle is four (4) inches. Distance from the rear mounting screw to the bottom back edge of the dash is five and a half (5 1/2) inches. TC4703
2. Distance from the centerline of the forward mounting bolt for the windscreen bracket TO the forward edge of the cowl is four (4) inches. TC6756
3. Measured the distance from the scuttle/hood gasket surface (ie; the edge of the fold where the gasket fits) and TC 0735 has 3.9". TC0735
4. Measured the distance from the front of the scuttle to the first hole: 3-15/16" on TC8126
5. There is a visible seam in the side of the car between the top cowling and the sides. This seam is an inch below the windshield post. From forward intersection of the two parts to the center of the forward bolt that holds the windshield post on I measured 4.165 inches. TC8192

Re: TC Windscreen
I got the measurements off another TC and marked out a paper template. I then had two chaps hold the screen in the measured position while I fitted the hood to the top of the screen. It need a small adjustment. I marked the rear holes and loosley bolted the screen to the scuttle. Then using the hood as the top guide I marked the front holes. Before drilling I ensured the lower bracket was level. It looks correct and the hood fits nicely.
I suspect there was no set measuremnt for fitting them at the factory but a wooden template which had "arms" to set against the bottom, front and back of the scuttle.

Thanks for the help. I will apply these notes to what I have and take the plunge. I also got a call from a customer who has a friend with a MGTC that I can visit to extract a template and do some other visual and dimensional checks before I start drilling holes in a 10k paint job.

Keep in mind also that the angle of the windscreen is supposed to match the angle of the bonnet's rear line. Or so I've been told.
